I haven’t updated the blog in the Christmas/New Year/First week of January period, so here are some of the most recent cartoons in one batch.
A lot of big busy scenes in the last couple of weeks…

Ken Sprague cartoon competition…

December 11, 2009

The Ken Sprague Fund has just announced its third biennial international political cartoon competition!
Last time around there was a terrific response by cartoonists from all over the world and with the theme for this year’s competition being “MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND – Globalisation, Financial Meltdown, Fair-Trade and Economic Justice” it is sure to be a great competition once again.

The competition is open to everyone, so go to the website for more details!

Excellent Livedraw…

December 6, 2009

Cartoon by Patrick Blower over at CiF.

A typically grand scene with a big theme, but it’s a story well told through great drawing and good timing! Excellent stuff.

Just a tad ironic of course that the piece is sponsored by American Express, but hey. That’s how the press works. It just becomes more obvious online.

Annus Horribilis…

October 29, 2009

I’ve just been sent a copy of Ann Treneman’s latest book, Annus Horribilis – The Worst Year in British Politics.
It’s a collection of her brilliant Parliamentary sketches for The Times from the last year, so that ought to be a good read!

I was lucky enough to do the book jacket for it, and to Gibson Square Publishing’s credit, I was given surprisingly free reins, which made it a pleasure to do.

Below are some pictures of the book and the original design.

I’ve mentioned the excellent True Blue – Strange Tales from a Tory Nation before, when was published earlier this year. Here are some pictures of that book too.

Blower Brilliance…

April 2, 2009

Excellent feature on Guardian’s Comment is Free today, of Patrick Blower’s sketchpad drawings of the G20 protests.
Great on-the-spot drawings and a fantastic snapshot of events, done in the true tradition of reportage drawing.
Go see!
